The BioActive bioreactor cultivates selected microalgae strains using CO₂ from boiler flue gas and fermentation off-gas, light, recovered nutrients from mill streams, and controlled environmental parameters. Extract Metabolites

Controlled Stress Production

Microalgae produce primary metabolites (amino acids, organic acids, polysaccharides, proteins/peptides, fatty acids) that stimulate soil microbes, chelate nutrients, and improve root-zone biochemistry. Through controlled stress responses—light intensity, nutrient limitation, CO₂ adjustment—they also produce secondary metabolites (phenolic compounds, antioxidants, bioactive signaling compounds, hormone-like growth promoters). Biomass is harvested via centrifugation, membrane filtration, or dissolved air flotation, and processed to concentrate metabolite-rich fractions.

Create Biochar Matrix

Pyrolysis + Activation

Bagasse, filter cake, and cane residues are processed through controlled pyrolysis to generate stable, high-surface-area biochar. Raw biochar is biologically inert—surface activation increases adsorption capacity, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and microbial colonization potential. This prepares the carbon matrix to function as a biologically active delivery platform.

Biological Activation

The metabolite-rich microalgae extract is introduced into the activated biochar matrix. The porous carbon structure adsorbs organic acids, amino acids, and signaling compounds while supporting beneficial microorganism colonization.
